
For optimum viewing of graphics on the Web, your
monitor should be set to display proper brightness, contrast and a
neutral colour balance. The bar shown below will help you judge the
calibration of your monitor and make any necessary adjustments.

First, adjust screen contrast to maximum, then reduce
it until you get separation between the white and light gray blocks
on the far right.
Then adjust the brightness until you get separation
between the black and dark gray blocks on the far left.
Finally, look for any colour cast in the white and
gray tones - they should be neutral in colour. Monitors tend to have
a magenta cast to them until they have warmed up for about 30 minutes.
